There is no definitive way of assessing who is overweight, underweight or normal weight. However, many doctors use a height and weight system known as the Body Mass Index as a rough guide to determining healthy weight among the general population.
According to the Body Mass Index, a person whose body mass index is 25+ is considered overweight. The Weight Chart below shows the weight equivalent to a BMI of 25 for each height between 4 feet 10 and six feet.
1. Find your height in the
Height column
2. Look in the Overweight here column to
see when you become overweight
Example
If you
are 5 ft 4 inches tall, you become overweight when you reach about 146
pounds
